Dr. Harmon does not over-diagnose. Overdiagnosis is the diagnosis of condition that will not cause any symptoms during a patient’s lifetime. It is a problem because it turns people into patients unnecessarily and because it leads to treatments that may possibly cause harm. Overdiagnosis happens when a condition is diagnosed correctly, but the diagnosis is irrelevant. A correct diagnosis may be irrelevant because treatment for the condition is unavailable, unnecessary, or unwanted.
